Tata Power Joins Anupam Kher Studio to Promote Neurodiversity through Film ‘Tanvi The Great’

Mumbai, July 11, (LAB) Tata Power Community Development Trust has partnered with The Anupam Kher Studio to support the theatrical release of “Tanvi The Great”, a film that highlights Autism Spectrum Disorder and celebrates the resilience of a young girl determined to achieve her dreams.

The collaboration is part of Tata Power’s flagship initiative Pay Autention, which works to create awareness and inclusive ecosystems for neurodiverse individuals across India.

According to a 2021 study in the Indian Journal of Pediatrics, one in 68 children in India is affected by autism. Despite this prevalence, the neurodiversity care ecosystem remains inadequate, with limited access to resources and support.

Through this partnership, Tata Power CSR will organise special screenings of “Tanvi The Great” for Pay Autention partners, neurodiverse communities, and its employees. Select screening venues will also feature Sensory Experience Zones, including calming rooms with sensory-friendly features, tactile pathways, LEGO play corners, soothing soundscapes, and live doodling sessions by neurodivergent artists. These zones are open to viewers, families, caregivers, students, and advocates to help them understand neurodiverse experiences more deeply.

Special shows will also be hosted for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) associated with Pay Autention’s partner organisations.

Speaking about the partnership, Mr. Himal Tewari, CHRO, Chief Sustainability & CSR, Tata Power, said:

“Stories have the power to move hearts, shift perceptions, and make causes personal. We are honoured to partner with veteran filmmaker Anupam Kher to promote neurodiversity through ‘Tanvi The Great’, a movie that shines a much-needed spotlight on the brilliance, realities, and challenges of neurodiverse individuals. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to champion inclusion, foster dialogue, and build supportive ecosystems for our communities.”

Actor and Director Anupam Kher said:

Tanvi The Great is close to my heart because there are so many Tanvis around us whose potential and grit often go unseen. The true impact of storytelling is realised when it’s amplified through meaningful collaborations. I’m proud to join hands with Tata Power Community Development Trust to take this narrative beyond the screen and into communities through their Pay Autention initiative. When the corporate and creative worlds come together with purpose, storytelling transforms into a powerful force for awareness, empathy, and action.”

Tata Power has been working extensively in the neurodiversity space through initiatives such as early diagnosis camps, caregiver support, skill development, inclusive education programmes, workplace inclusion, and platforms like E-Sanidhya digital support and the Pay Autention toll-free helpline.

This latest collaboration aims to further drive awareness, accessibility, and meaningful change in society by combining the power of cinema with on-ground action for inclusion.
