As of February 9, 2022, Mukesh Ambani is in the 10th spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index global list with a net worth of $89.2 billion.

In the last few months, Adani and Ambani have been swapping positions for the top spot on the billionaire’s rankings. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s ambitious effort to pivot his conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd. toward green energy could transform India into a clean-hydrogen juggernaut. Billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani regained the status of Asia’s richest person, a day after Gautam Adani had surpassed the Reliance Industries Ltd chairman on net worth, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Ambani’s announced his plans to invest $75 billion in fossil fuels earlier this month and in renewables infrastructure including generation plants, solar panels, and electrolyzers. The strategy entails transforming all of that clean power into hydrogen, one of the largest endorsements in the next-generation fuel.

The number of billionaires in the Asia Pacific has expanded significantly since the pandemic began. It reached 1,087 in November 2021, an increase of almost a third on pre-crisis figures, Oxfam said in a new report.
