Lok Sabha passes Statutory Resolution approving proclamation of President’s Rule in J&K

The Lok Sabha today passed, amid din, a Statutory Resolution approving the proclamation of President’s Rule in Jammu and Kashmir.  However, some of the opposition members later objected to it.

After the passage of the resolution moved by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan allowed a brief discussion, saying although it has been passed and already been adopted, she was allowing a discussion on it as a “special case”.

Saugata Ray of Trinamool Congress also opposed the Central rule in the State terming it arbitrary and unconstitutional. He demanded immediate election in the state.
