Adish C Aggarwala is the new president of Supreme Court Bar Association

New Delhi, May 19, (LAB) Senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala was on Wednesday elected the new president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), defeating his closest contender Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave

Aggarwala secured 668 votes as against Dave’s 477. 

Besides Aggarwala and Dave other contestants for the post of SCBA president.s were Senior Advocates Ajit Kumar Sinha, Rakesh Kumar Khanna, and advocates Neeraj Srivastava, Dr Parvin Mutreja and Yagya Deo Sharma.

The votes secured by each candidate are as follows-

Adish Agarwal – 668;

Dushyant Dave – 477;

Rakesh Khanna – 426;

Ranjit Kumar – 304;

Ajit Kumar Sinha – 144.

While Aggarwala received 668 votes, Dave received 477. Senior advocates Rakesh Kumar Khanna (426), Ranjit Kumar (304), and Ajit Kumar Sinha (144) were the three next-best contenders.

Aggarwala’s second-in-command is Senior Advocate Sukumar Pattjoshi, who has been elected the vice president of the bar association. Pattjoshi – with a total of 530 votes – has defeated nine other candidates including senior advocates Rachana Srivastava (306), Vibha Datta Makhija (209), and Pavani Mahalakshmi (165).

Rohit Pandey has been elected as the Secretary with 679 votes beating the other 7 candidates. Meenash Dubey was elected as joint secretary securing 676 votes and beating six others. Ms Yugandhara Pawar Jha was elected treasurer among four other contestants securing 738 votes. Amerendra Kumar Singh was elected as Joint Secretary securing 486 votes.

Senior Advocates, Jayant Bhushan, Dinesh Kumar Goswami, Narender Hooda, Arjit Prasad, Wasim S Ahmed Qadri and Ranji Thomas were elected as Senior Executive members.

Anil C Nishani, Chanchal Kumar Ganguli, Manish Goswami, Gaurav Kumar, Upendra Mishra, Vibhu Shankar Mishra, Shashank Shekhar, Pratap Venugopal, were elected as executive members.

2208 votes were cast from the 2800-member-strong electorate of the SCBA. The election this year witnessed an almost 80 per cent voter turnout. Aggarwala will take over the charge from Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, who was the president for the last two terms continuously. /LAB/SNG/
